Musical Offerings for Children and Youth,
Ages 3-18

Mini-Singers is open to three-year-olds through kindergarteners and meets on Sunday mornings from 10:30-11 am in E9. Mini-singers bless our congregation in worship a couple times each year. The Mini-Singers Director directs this energetic group of singers.

Children’s Praise Singers is designed for children in grades 1-6. This choir meets Sunday mornings during the regular Sunday School hour at 9:30 am in H1. The choir sings in worship once a month and participates in the Christmas Concert and other church events. We hope to instill a love of music in our children as they learn and sing new and familiar songs each week with their peers as a part of Sunday School.

Music Makers is also designed for children in grades 1-6, but meets on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 pm in A4 while school is in session. This group plays Orff instruments, chimes, bells, and sings! They also perform a Christmas pageant, sing/ring on a regular basis in church, and work on their music skills (reading notes, rhythms, expression, etc.) The Music and Arts Ministries Director and Children’s Music Director lead this enriching experience for elementary-aged musicians.

Youth Choir is for 7th-12th graders and meets on Sundays from 4-5 pm in A4. The choir sings music ranging from traditional choral repertoire to contemporary praise songs. This group sings in worship once a month, and presents a tour preview concert in May at PVUMC before they leave on a weekend regional tour. In past years, they have traveled to Southern California and to Las Vegas, NV. In June 2017, the group will participate in a music festival in Tacoma, WA. Click here to read more.

Musical Offerings for Adults

Bells of Paradise is a handbell choir that provides music for our worship services, community events, and outreach opportunities.  While previous handbell experience is not required, members do need to be able to read music.  The bells enhance worship once a month and for special liturgical events/services such as Christmas, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. The Bells of Paradise rehearse every Wednesday from 6-7:20 pm.

Chancel Choir is the largest music ensemble at PVUMC. The choir leads worship most Sundays, typically at the 9:30 service, but may lead worship in other services as well.  The Chancel Choir is a group of highly dedicated singers who seek to serve God with their inspired, spirit-filled singing. The Chancel Choir also performs a larger choral work each spring and is the featured choir at the annual Christmas Concert.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9 pm.

Paradise Singers is a smaller select group of female singers. The group sings a wide range of choral literature for SSA and SSAA voicing.  Paradise Singers lead worship many times throughout the year as well as at special services such as Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday. The Paradise Singers rehearse on Wednesdays from 11 am-12 noon.

Community Concert Series

Every year, PVUMC offers a Community Concert series specifically designed for all ages. Past performances have included the Sahnas Brothers, held in our open-air amphitheater in early October; choral groups; the Tetra String Quartet; Traveler, a multi-ethnic fusion ensemble; Run Boy Run, an award-winning bluegrass group; musical theater night, and seasonal concerts by our own choirs at Christmas and just prior to Holy Week. We welcome families to all our concerts, but if you need childcare, we offer free, onsite certified care in our Child Care Center. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance.
