I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, 17and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 18I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
As I read these verses, I feel a closeness to the saints at Ephesus and I wonder at their strength. Paul is endowing them with challenges from God.
What are the challenges at Paradise Valley? Surely they are similar. The task of Christianity is the same; proclaim the gospel to the world. But I find myself lacking enthusiasm. Although around me I find enthusiasm among my church friends. Have I missed the boat?
In years past, I remember my faith was strong. I guess I can blame “old age.” Lately I find myself using that expression quite often. God has no limitations on his gifts, so I expect I’ve “missed the boat” a few times.
I must remember God is waiting on my help with the “Kingdom” tasks. Prayer is one of the main communication links with God, and I must be more active, and continue to pray on. Please join me in this effort.
Prayer: Loving God, you never forget us. Help me remember your presence is always with me. Give me strength and willingness to follow you and realize with you there are challenges, but also help on the way.
