PVUMC hosted a Valley Interfaith Project Candidates Forum in our Fellowship Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, which featured nearly all of the 13 House and Senate candidates running for office in Legislative Districts 23 and 28. The Rev. Karen Eynon welcomed the assembly on behalf of PVUMC, and said an opening prayer.
The primary purpose of the forum was to get commitments from the candidates to work with us on key issues like stopping sex trafficking of children, and supporting education funding, healthcare, and workforce development. To get such commitments and make them work, we needed to have a large audience to show our influence on the election.
You responded, with an attendance of nearly 250. Thank you!
PVUMC is located in District 28 and we are collaborating with other VIP institutions located in Districts 23 and 28: the Franciscan Renewal Center, St. Francis Catholic Community, Temple Solel, and Shepherd of the Hills United Church of Christ. This may be the largest group these candidates will meet with during this election.
Many thanks to the Church & Society Ministry Team and to VIP for organizing this event. — Dan Sagramoso, Church & Society Ministry Team
