Join us for the next community concert — Musical Theater Night — Friday, January 23, 2015, at 7 pm in the sanctuary. Andria Fennig, who just joined the PVUMC staff as a part time accompanist and regularly plays for our 8 am and 11:15 am Ignite (distinctively different) services, will accompany Kristi Rice, soprano, as they treat us to the music of Harold Arlen, best known for the music he wrote for The Wizard of Oz.  Kristi will join us in worship at Ignite (11:15 am in the chapel) on Sunday, January 18, leading worship with our Praise Band, so you will have an opportunity to see them both before the concert.

All of our community concerts are free, though we do “pass the plate” at the event if you feel the spirit move you to make a donation in support of the series. Your generosity makes it possible for us to bring you this very talented duo, as well as all of our other performers who have joined us during 2014 and the others who will perform later this year.

Click here to go to our Eventbrite site to let us know you’re coming to the concert, and to invite your friends via email or social media.

Mark your calendar to join us on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 7 pm in the sanctuary when we present “A Night at the Opera,” featuring our very talented Asleif Willner, soprano, and Michael Talerico, tenor. Both are section leaders in our Chancel Choir, and you can hear them often in worship on Sunday mornings, particularly at the 9:30 am worship service.

Willmer has been acclaimed as “a most incredible voice” by the Arizona Daily Star, and is a doctoral student in vocal performance at Arizona State University. Talerico is currently in the Young Artist Teaching program for the Arizona Opera Company, and is also a member of the Arizona Opera Chorus. As with all our concerts, no tickets are required, though we invite you give a free-will offering at the event.

Mark your calendar for our March concert, Bob Chilcott’s Requiem, performed by our adult choirs, on Friday, March 27 at 7 pm, in the sanctuary, and our final concert on Friday, April 17 at 7 pm, “Jazz at the Perk,” where we invite you to listen to great jazz while enjoying “the perks” of the Paradise Perk, our church coffee shop, which will be open just for this concert, and then during its regular Sunday morning hours.
