We encourage you to participate in our 12-hour Lenten Vigil on Sunday, February 15. From 6 am until 6 pm, we are asking individuals and groups to sign up to pray for the season of Lent, and for our giving campaign to be a success. Pray at home, or at church. The prayer room under the chapel, the labyrinth, and the Biblical Garden are open all day and offer quiet spaces where you can pray. The Chapel and Sanctuary will also be open for prayer. See times below. Help us lay down a foundation of prayer for the Lenten season from February 18 (Ash Wednesday) through April 4 (Day before Easter). Devotional aids and a prayer list will be made available.
Prayer times are in increments of 15 minutes each. Sign up online via Sign-Up Genius. Click here to go directly to the online sign-up form, or go to Signupgenius.com and, in the upper right hand corner, click on “Find a Sign Up”, search by email option – firstname.lastname@example.org. That will take you to the sign up page too.
Everyone can pray – adults, youth and children.
WHAT TO PRAY FOR:
Lent is the season of preparing our hearts to know God. On the day of the prayer vigil, we invite you to stop in at the church library (G2) for devotional helps, or use those that are available in the Prayer Room (open Sunday, 6 am-6 pm), the Chapel (open for prayer Sunday, 12:30 pm-3pm) and Sanctuary (open for prayer on Sunday, 11 am-3 pm). The campus will close early on Sunday in anticipation of President’s Day Holiday, when the office will be closed.
Please pray for:
• People to build closer relationships with GOD
• The success of the church Lenten study
• Individuals and events listed in the Looking Ahead, the church bulletin insert
• The Giving Campaign at PVUMC, How to Be Rich, which invites us to put our trust in God, “who richly provides” – 1 Timothy 6:17 and follow John Wesley’s wise words: “Earn all you can, save all you can, give all you can,” so ministry and love continues.
“But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” – Matthew 6:6 – New Revised Standard Version
Ash Wednesday Services Offered at 12 Noon and in the Evening
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18, and we invite you to join us for worship that day. We offer a service in the chapel at 12 noon and another at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary. The Rev. Eve Williams will preach at both services, and we will offer the imposition of ashes as well. The pastors also plan to offer ashes to parents/ caregivers who are dropping off their children at the preschool in the morning.
