You’re Invited to Mingus Camp for a Working Weekend – May 22-25, 2015

If you don’t have plans for Memorial Day weekend, come up to Mingus Mountain Camp and Retreat Center to help us prepare for summer camp. Join us for one day or for the entire weekend, May 22-25. Free housing and food will be provided to working participants. Projects include painting the interior of LaPointe Hall, weeding the Labyrinth, taking out the metal fence at the meadow, roofing the nurses cabin (if we have people with know-how), deep cleaning and repairs, and setting up the craft cabin. Bring tools if you have them. To register or for more information, call or email Mike Crevelt, Mingus Camp manager, at 1-928-634-5273.

Summer is Almost Here! Mingus Mountain Offers Camps for All Ages

If you’re thinking about sending your children to camp this summer, we hope you’ll consider UMC camps, and particularly Mingus Mountain camps. Brenda Smith, our Children’s Ministries Director, will be Dean of the elementary Discovery Camp for children as young as entering third graders and as old as entering 7th graders. Mingus also has camps for junior high, senior high, and young adults. For more information or to register for camps, visit: http://www.dsccamps.org/.

Still on the fence about the power of a Christian camp experience? Watch this video from the Christian Camp and Conference Association:

The True Cost of Christian Camping

The Desert Southwest Conference offers camping experiences for everyone, and believes that cost should not be a deterrent. It also means that if you can afford to pay for camp, we encourage you to do so. With three tiers to choose from, you should choose the level that your budget allows. The three levels range from $275 (subsidized) to $475 (the actual cost of the camp experience). See http://www.dsccamps.org/ for more information on fees, registration deadlines and to fill out the online student or volunteer applications. Register online for all camps.
