Tuna and Beans Collected for Annual Conference Mission Project

We collected tuna and beans (canned or dry) Sunday, June 7, and Sunday, June 14, as part of the 2015 Annual Conference mission project.

In an effort to collect as many bags and cans as possible, to help feed the hungry and compete for the district prize, the people of PVUMC donated:

  • 224 cans of tuna
  • 149 cans of beans, and
  • 35 bags of dry beans

Last Sunday, our volunteers delivered the donations to UMOM — United Methodist Outreach Ministries, the largest shelter for homeless families in the state of Arizona. Many thanks to everyone who donated, and to the Missions Ministry team members who coordinated the collection, counted, and made the deliveries.

District totals will be multiplied by a membership percentage to balance the competition for the district prize, but PVUMC has a great opportunity to feed the hungry AND get the highest total.

On June 15, 2015, we posted our church total and a photo of our collection via social media (Twitter/Tumblr/Facebook/Instagram) with #dscumc in our messages. See Tumblr pvumc / Twitter @PVUMC #dscumc / Instagram pvumc (lower case) same hashtag and #UMOM too.

Our mission donation went to UMOM, the usual recipient of our first-of-the-month food drive. Thank you for giving to those less fortunate.

You are God’s love in action at PVUMC and in the Desert Southwest Conference!
