During our recent Vacation Bible Camp program, we asked some of the children to help put together homeless care packages. Each included bottled water, a washcloth, socks, wet wipes, snacks, toothpaste, a toothbrush and a few adhesive bandages. ¬†There’s also a card with important phone numbers that can connect those in need with an operator who can tell someone in need where to find shelter. The card is in English and Spanish. A Bible verse from Isaiah 40:29 on the front of the card says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

The bags will be distributed after worship on Sunday, July 19, and will be available as long as supplies last. Pick one up and keep it in your car. When you see someone who looks homeless, and needs help, offer the bag. Your reward will be that person’s smile of thanks.

We are collecting $5 per bag to help defray the cost of the items in the bags, but we encourage you to take a bag even if you can’t donate.

May the Lord bless you and keep you safe. Just like it says on the card.
