PVUMC has a powerful Vision Statement: “love that crosses all barriers and embraces all people.” Now, we have an opportunity to get closer to that vision.

Working under the Pathways umbrella and the Adult Learning Ministry Team, Claremont Lincoln University’s Interfaith Understanding (IFUN) certificate program explores interfaith understanding through the following courses:

  1. The World Is Full of Difference
  2. Religions Around the World
  3. Emerging Religious Voices
  4. How Do Religions Deal with Suffering?
  5. Why Do We Fight Over Religion?
  6. Food, Feasts and Rituals

Join discussion groups led by Keith Sobraske and Stu Selthun on three Wednesdays: January 6 and 20, and February 3, 2016 to discuss what you learn online.  You’re also invited to a casual, buffet dinner in the Fellowship Center before the discussion. Dinner begins at 5:30 pm (buffet-style). Click here to read more about the Feast and see what’s been on the dinner menu in the past.

PVUMC Fresh Winds leaders Keith Sobraske and Stu Selthun were part of the group of reviewers of the beta CLU online program, and recognized that it’s one thing to take the course, and something else to have the enriching opportunity to discuss the issues presented in the course materials. This class is to be considered a means of enriching the takeaway from the online learning program. During the discussion group gatherings, seminal materials from the online program will be presented and discussed for the first four courses.

Interfaith Understanding speakers and forums will be held on January 13 and 27, 2016, and February 17, 2016, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The Adult Learning Ministry Team, in collaboration with other PVUMC ministry teams and the Salaam-Chai-Paradise Trifaith group, will present these series of forums on interfaith issues that will involve presentations and discussion by those from academia, other faith traditions, and local governmental representatives. Click here to read more about the “Who Is My Neighbor?” speaker series.

CLU is offering this program to PVUMC participants at the greatly reduced cost of $50/person.
