Every generation brings some shifts in lifestyle, attitudes and faith. We are blessed to be a church that values youth and children, and wants to grow a vital faith within them. I find that spending time with our youth is always eye-opening. I enjoy those conversations. I’m also grateful we have a church where our youth give much and share in our ministry: serving as ushers each week at the Ignite Service, sharing inspiration when the youth choir sings, keeping the Paradise Perk open every Sunday (under Shannon Curkendoll’s able leadership), leading us in mission work, helping with Vacation Bible Camp and so much more. I’m grateful to be part of a church that cares for young people and wants to help them build a strong faith and give them a future filled with hope.
As we finish up our Shift worship series, looking at the generations in the church, we lean into the unfolding future where our young people will lead the way for us. One of the most important things we can do as a church is to listen to what our youth have to say. One of the important ways we demonstrate our faith is to trust in God as changes come, and know that God is still at work in our lives and in our faith. Sunday, we’ll talk about the final generation in our Shift series: the Millennials. Join us as our young people help us to meet and hear God as we worship together.
