PVUMC has published a new Lenten study book, which will be available for purchase on Ash Wednesday. 137 Miles: A Journey With Jesus, is named for the 137-mile journey that Jesus traveled from the Mount of Transfiguration (Mt. Hermon) to Jerusalem, his city of destiny. In Luke’s gospel, nine chapters are devoted to this travelogue filled with significant encounters and teaching by Jesus. Luke reminds us how Jesus deliberately set his face towards Jerusalem, a commitment that affects both the journey and its culmination at the cross. We join this revealing pilgrimage with Christ, and recognize that our life of faith is always a journey. On this 137-mile journey during Lent, Jesus shared parables, each describing a distinctive movement of faith (from fear to love or from helplessness to hopefulness). We invite you to take steps of faith during Lent, and grow closer in your relationship to the one who walks beside you: Jesus.
If you come to the 12 noon service on Ash Wednesday, stop by the office before or after the service to purchase a copy of the book. We will also have the book available before the 6:30 pm service, at the Community Feast, 5:30-6:15 pm in the Fellowship Center, and our hosting Adult Learning Ministry Team would be happy to sell you a copy. If you cannot afford the book, but would like one, we have some scholarship money available. You can use the “Give Now” button to purchase; choose “other” and type “Lenten study book” in the comments section. The church office will also have the book available, 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday. The paperback will be $12. If you prefer a digital copy, we have published a digital version for the Kindle, available from Amazon.com. The online version, $8.99. The Kindle App is free, and can be downloaded to your smart phone, laptop or other E-Reader. The link is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BIBLP1W
