Physical Challenges

To give you more opportunities to journey with Jesus and others in the faith community, we offer the following walks and hikes:

Prayer Walk with the Labyrinth

  • Spend time alone and pray through the use of a labyrinth. We invite you to a special prayer walk on Sunday, March 6, 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m., when an 11-circuit Chartres Cathedral-style labyrinth will be on the floor of the Fellowship Center. Guidance and instruction provided.
  • If you are at PVUMC, we invite you to walk the outdoor 7-circuit labyrinth located in the southeast corner of the west parking lot any time. Walk to the light of the full moon on February 22 and March 19.

Prayer Hike – Phoenix Mountain Preserve – 32nd St & Lincoln Drive
We invite you to join us on a prayer hike at 9 am, Saturday, March 12. Hike at your own pace on Trail 8A, part of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. There’s a small lot at the northeast corner of 32nd St & Lincoln Dr, or you can park in the lot across the street and walk over to the trailhead. We will gather for a short prayer at the beginning, and pray silently up and down the mountain. We’ll have some prayer cards to help guide your prayers, if you need guidance. The hike takes about 1 hour total to go up and down, but there are places to stop along the way. You do not have to go the entire way. Friends, and dogs on a leash, are welcome. Email Pam Selthun for more information, or to be added to the group email list. For those who are interested, we’ll write haikus – poems — at the top or when we’re done. There’s a Starbucks at 32nd St & Lincoln for fellowship afterwards.

Easter Vigil Hike and Worship – Phoenix Mountain Preserve – 32nd St & Lincoln Drive
We invite you to join us for an Easter Vigil hike at 5 pm, Saturday, March 26. Hike at your own pace on Trail 8A, part of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. There’s a small lot at the northeast corner of 32nd St & Lincoln Dr, or you can park in the lot across the street and walk over to the trailhead. We will gather for a short prayer at the beginning, and have a short worship service close to sunset at the top. The hike takes about 1 hour total to go up and down, but there are places to stop along the way. Email Brenda Smith, for more information, or to be added to the group email list.
