Please join the Reconciling Task Force for an informative roundtable discussion of LGBTQ inclusion in the United Methodist Church. Learn about the divisions in the worldwide church on topics such as gay pastors and same-sex marriage. What is the position of the Desert Southwest Conference? What does it mean to become a Reconciling congregation? Should PVUMC join in the Reconciling movement?

See the Reconciling Ministries Network website for an update of how many UMC congregations are Reconciling and to read about the issues that have been under discussion for the past decades. The Reconciling Ministries Network began in 1982, and is committed to the local church, especially helping communities go through a discernment process on how your congregation, Sunday School class, campus ministry, or other small group can be actively welcoming all people.

We’ll begin the discussion at 12:15 pm in the Fellowship Center on Sunday, August 21.  A light lunch will be served. If you like lunch, please RSVP to the church office by Tuesday, August 16. Call 602-840-8360 or email

For those who have concerns about becoming a reconciling congregation and would like to have a pre-meeting discussion, please join Dave Lex and others in H1 at 11 am on Sunday, August 14.
