The Paradise Perk welcomes Uncle Matteo’s italian pastries as part of its fall menu. If you’re looking for a little piece of Naples, stop by the Paradise Perk on Sunday, 9 am-1 pm, and purchase a zeppole or bomboloni for $1 each.
Delivered fresh by artisan chef Matteo Cataldo, originally from Salerno, Italy, the Paradise Perk thinks these are perfect accompaniments to its lineup of beverages, including fresh-brewed coffee and tea, as well as smoothies in a variety of flavors.
The traditional pastries are from the chef’s home region of Campania. Using his famous dough recipe which has been passed down through his family for generations, Cataldo shapes each piece individually by hand. Each piece is then left to raise and is fried fresh and rolled in cinnamon and sugar. The traditional shape of the plain “Zeppole,” also called “Graffe” in Naples, is what you would see in every pastry shop that you pass. The traditional “Bomboloni” are filled with various fillings such as pastry cream or the Italian favorite, Nutella!
We hope that you enjoy these traditional Italian favorites from Uncle Matteo’s! Pair them with your favorite coffee drink while at Paradise Perk but if you decide that you cannot eat just one and would like to take some home, we suggest that you wrap them up or put them in a tightly sealed container and refrigerate them. Then you can enjoy them the next day!
