Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) announces 2016-2017 Community Concert Series
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) announces its 2016-2017 Community Concert Series: Music for Everyone.
As with all the PVUMC community concerts, there are no tickets or fees. A free-will offering will be taken at each of the concerts, in support of the series and the participating musicians.
Free, high-quality childcare is available at each event with a 48-hour reservation, making this a great date night. To reserve a spot for your child(ren) in our Childcare Center, please call the church at 602-840-8360, ext 134, at least 48 hours before the event. To cancel childcare, even at the last minute, please call the number again.

A Night on Broadway
Enjoy selections from famous Broadway musicals, featuring the talented musicians of PVUMC. The concert includes solo, duet and ensemble numbers from both professional vocalists and talented volunteers of all ages, who are accompanied by a live band. Tommy Strawser, assistant music and arts director at PVUMC, emcees the performance and directs the youth choir.
Highlights include Eve Williams and Bonnie Greey performing “For Good” from Wicked; Asleif Willmer and Michaell English performing “Suddenly Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors, and Brad Arkwright and Lisa LaMont performing “All I Ask of You” from Phantom of the Opera. Tommy Strawser and Michael English also sing “Agony,” the hilarious duet from Into the Woods.
The free-will offering taken at this concert will be used to support PVUMC’s music ministry programs, and specifically the Youth Choir Tour and Section Leaders Fund. The night of the event, we’ll offer an opportunity to sponsor a youth choir member or a choral section leader. Sponsorship levels are from $25-$2,000. All donations are appreciated. To give online, visit GIVE NOW and choose “Other” from the menu. Type “Youth Choir Tour” or “Section Leader Scholarship” in the comments box. Do not add names of individual students or section leaders to checks (payable to PVUMC) or online donations. We appreciate your support.

Run Boy Run
Run Boy Run’s all-acoustic format blends bluegrass and folk, rooted in the traditional music of the Appalachian South. Strong female voices combined with award-winning fiddlers weave a tapestry of sound which holds their audiences captive. Run Boy Run recently performed at the Pickin’ in the Pines festival in Flagstaff, at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and twice on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion on NPR.
Tonight’s free-will offering supports the PVUMC Community Concert Series.

Usher in the Christmas season with the PVUMC Christmas Concert. This event weaves music, poetic texts and audience sing-a-longs for an uplifting evening. Children, youth and adults perform some of the best Advent and Christmas choir, handbell and instrumental music. Paradise Winds, a woodwind quintet who performed as a part of last year’s PVUMC Community Concert series, will be featured. A dessert reception follows in the Fellowship Center, and the Serendipities gift shop will be open for business, 5-8 pm. Shop for Christmas gifts before the concert (while your children rehearse), during intermission and during the reception time.
