Remember standing on the beach, looking at the vastness of ocean and wondering about your place in the world? Or maybe you’ve gazed up at the beautiful night sky, filled with stars and felt a bit insignificant in comparison to our infinite universe. Psalm 8 speaks to our thoughts here as the writer says to God, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him?” (8:3-4).
It’s easy in our crazy, busy world to feel small and unnoticed. Sometimes we think deeply, asking how our lives truly matter. Yet the Bible always tells us of a very personal God, so intimately involved in each person’s life, caring and concerned for each of us. Sunday we’ll talk about the fear of insignificance and again our Psalms speak to the heart of this matter. Join us as we worship the God who knows and searches for each one of us to tell us that our lives truly do matter.
