Christmas Ornament Raku Workshop – December 9, 2017

9 am – 12 pm, H7

Register by December 3, 2016
Last year, participants in the Christmas Ornament Raku Workshop had the pleasure of painting and firing their own ornaments under the guidance of Colorado Artist Musette Young and Kathleen Kupper, a local art teacher, former Way of the Child Sunday School teacher and a member of the Music, Worship and Fine Arts Ministry Team.

This year, Musette and Kathleen return for another workshop. Explore your Christmas story while experiencing the transformative raku process. Select a handmade ceramic ornament and use colorful glazes to decorate. Reflect on your life’s journey during the raku firing process. Placed into fiery flames, the glazed ornament turns black. Removing the ash and polishing, the ornament emerges iridescent with colorful reflective light. Colorado artist and raku expert, Musette Young, facilitates. Children 6th grade and older may attend accompanied by an adult.
