The PVUMC Book Group moves the the second Monday of the month in December for its annual Christmas Celebration Potluck and Book Exchange. Contact Peggy Howard, the potluck coordinator, if you would like to participate by bringing a dish to share and an unwrapped book to exchange at the lunch on Monday, December 11. Dishes can be casseroles, salads or desserts. If you would like to help coordinate the event, contact Peggy as well.
In the new year, the group goes back to its usual schedule of meeting on the first non-holiday Monday of the month for a book discussion of a new title. Meetings are held in the church library (G2), 12:15-1:15 pm. Come a little earlier to chat.
On Monday, January 8, come ready to discuss A Gentleman in Moscow: A Novel by Amor Towles, with guide, Carol Mosser.
The group decides what to read, usually setting their schedule of books several months in advance. Here is their spring schedule, through March 2018:
January 8 A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles – Guide: Carol Mosser
February 5 Beneath a Scarlet Sky: A Novel by Mark Sullivan – Guide: Cheryl Del Monte
March 5 Nutshell: A Novel by Ian McEwan – Guide: Fran Clark
If you have a book to suggest and would like to lead a discussion in an upcoming month in 2018, let Cheryl Del Monte know. Email Cheryl for more information about the group and to learn more about the upcoming selections, as well as suggest books for upcoming months. You do not have to be a member of PVUMC or a member of any church to join this group. All book lovers are welcome!
