Family Friendly Christmas Events at PVUMC

Throughout the month of December, we offer several ways to experience Christmas.

On Sunday, December 3, our littlest singers, the Mini-Singers, perform a mini Christmas concert after the 9:30 am worship service. Hear how sweet they sound and enjoy cookies following their performance.

Families with little ones through elementary school age children are invited to our Winter/Christmas Wonderland on Friday, December 15 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Center. Santa will be there, and we’ll enjoy hot cocoa, pizza and crafts before we break out the popcorn for the family feature: Elf, the Christmas movie comedy with Will Ferrell (rated PG for some mild rude humor and language) at 7 pm. Wear your pajamas, and bring a pillow and blanket or sleeping bag to snuggle into during the movie.

For more grown-up fun, and wonderful music and poetic readings, come to the PVUMC Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 10, at 6 pm. “Gloria!” features all of our musical ensembles and choirs in one spectacular performance. This is part of our Community Concert Series 2017-2018, and includes a festive dessert reception. Click here to register on Eventbrite.

All of these are FREE events, so please join us, and invite a friend!

Celebrate at One of 5 Christmas Eve Services

Throughout the month of December, we’ll focus on “Coming Home,” with messages on hope, acceptance and grace offered during worship each Sunday during Advent. On Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, we welcome the Christ Child, Jesus, at five worship services, and celebrate how he made his home in a bed of hay in a manger that starry night.

One Morning Service

At 9:30 am, we gather in the sanctuary for a morning service of Nine Lessons and Carols. To hear some of the history and hear some of the carols and scripture from King’s College in Cambridge, where the service began, watch the video below:

Special Family Afternoon Service

At 3 pm in the sanctuary, we offer a Family Service, which includes a Blessing of the Babies. Bring your nativity set’s baby Jesus for a special blessing. We’ll also bless your own babies if you so desire.

Three Candlelight Services

Traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve services are at 5, 7 and 9 pm. All are in the sanctuary.

Children’s, youth and adult choirs as well as handbell groups perform, accompanied by strings, organ, piano and other instruments.

Childcare is available at all services.

Join us as we welcome the Christ child, Jesus, the hope of the world.

Please note: We are closed Christmas Day.

New Year’s Eve (Morning) Services

On the first Sunday after Christmas, we offer blessings for the New Year at 9:30 and 11 am, New Year’s Eve (morning) , December 31.
