Explore. Discover. Connect.

You’re invited to explore, discover and connect at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church. Journeys, small groups at pvumc, offers opportunities to travel with others on the pathway to faith. It’s up to you to decide where you’ll go and what path you’ll take to get there. Discover where God is leading you, explore areas of spiritual growth and renewal, and connect with others. Who will your traveling companions be? What will you discover about yourself, your faith, and about those who are journeying with you? Where will you see God and where will God meet you?

Journeys Small Groups – Summer 2018

Just because it’s summer, it doesn’t mean the church closes down. We continue to ignite faith, transform lives and create community, and you’re invited to journey with us. Journeys, small groups at PVUMC, continue year round. In this more relaxed season, there may be fewer opportunities available, but there are still many choices. You may also have more free time to try something new or stay in touch via PVUMC Facebook groups. This summer, you’re invited to: explore different areas of spiritual growth, discover where God is leading you, and connect with others. As we strive to be an All-Embracing, All-Engaging Church in the Community, we invite you to engage with others and grow as a disciple of Christ.

Sometimes, it’s good to make a change. Sometimes, you feel like you’re right where you need to be. Spend some time praying for guidance from God, who will lead you in the right direction. Classes usually meet weekly, twice a month or once a month. The new guidebook for Summer Journeys was published June 3, 2018.

Download the NEW Summer 2018 Journeys Guidebook or pick up a copy after worship or in the office during the week.

Some of the offerings are highlighted below. Check the church calendar to see which groups meet when, and to see if classes change or are cancelled.

And while the popular Brown Baggers Bible study group will take a break for summer, the Wesley Sunday School Group will continue on Sundays at 11 am in G2, the library and the Knitting Group will meet in the Paradise Perk on Wednesday AND on Monday mornings in the Paradise Perk, our campus coffee shop. They are meeting TWICE a week so they can create community with each other and knit and crochet more prayer shawls, baby hats and more to bless others.

We recognize that while some are away for the entire summer, like our snowbirds, many of you will still be in town, looking for ways to grow your faith and be in community with others at PVUMC.

Whenever you need a book, check the church library’s online catalog OR if you purchase anything online at Amazon.com, please use Amazon Smile to benefit the church!

Choose your itinerary and go.

Whether Christianity is new to you, or whether you are a lifelong Christian, you’ll find a place where you can walk with others on a spiritual journey. Allow the Holy Spirit to ignite your faith and transform your life as you create community with others. Let Christ shape and enrich your heart, mind, soul and strength, in all the fullness of God’s love and grace.

With so many itineraries to choose from, we’re sure you’ll find at least one place where you can engage with others in a community of faith.

Free, quality childcare is available for all of our on-campus offerings. Call 602.840.8360, ext 134, at least 48 hours in advance to make a reservation in our Childcare Center. If you need to cancel, please call the number again, even at the last minute.

Our Mission and Vision

All of the Journeys groups are in line with our mission and vision:

Our Mission: Alive with the Spirit, we bring God’s love into action, by igniting faith, transforming lives and creating community.
Our Vision: Love that crosses all barriers and embraces all people.

No registration is necessary for any of the Journeys groups or classes, unless where noted.

Knitting Together, meets Wednesday AND Monday mornings in the Perk, 9-10:30 am, and invites women to come chat and hang out while knitting, crocheting or working on other crafts.

All ages and levels of ability are welcome, and members are encouraged to help each other. Cassandra Holmes leads this group, which meets though mid-December. Come anytime.

Some of the group members make prayer shawls as part of the Caring Ministry Team. The shawls are blessed in worship, then given to those undergoing cancer treatments as well as to shut-ins. Others make baby caps or inspirational bracelets.

It’s one more way PVUMC brings God’s love into action.
