On Sunday, May 13, 2018, Mother’s Day, Paradise Valley United Methodist Church presents its annual celebration of Music Ministry. We will feature all of our musical groups, including children and youth choirs, youth and adult handbell ensembles, and adult and combined choirs at the 9:30 am service. We invite you to bring your mother to church for a morning of uplifting and inspiring music.
The Youth Choir and Bells perform on Mother’s Day and again at 1 pm on Sunday, May 20, in the sanctuary. This is a Bon Voyage Concert featuring the PVUMC Youth Choir and the music they will sing as part of their Las Vegas, NV choir tour over the Memorial Day weekend. The choir will partner with Advent UMC, where former PVUMC associate pastor Rev. Eve Williams is the pastor. The church hosts the group the first night of the tour, Saturday, May 26. In the afternoon, the group will perform at a local nursing home or participate in a mission project. Dinner and activities with the Advent UMC youth group follow. On Sunday, May 27, the Youth Choir participates in the church’s two Sunday services. A church member will host a farewell party for the group before they depart for dinner and their hotel close to the Las Vegas strip. On Monday, May 28, they may add one more performance in the area before they arrive back at PVUMC. In 2015, the group saw a Cirque du Solei show and visited the Hoover Dam.
You can help support the Youth Choir by giving generously at the concert (we’ll take a free-will offering at the event) and by encouraging your teen to join the choir next year. The choir is under the leadership of Dr. Ashley Snavley, our music & arts director.
