On Sunday, August 19, PVUMC welcomes “Nostalgia,” a local Barbershop Quartet who will sing gospel favorites like This Little Light of Mine and Do Lord at the 9:30 am worship service. Nostalgia has been performing at local valley churches every summer since they formed in 1975. This is the group’s third year performing at PVUMC.

The group has six members, not four: Robert Holcomb, Mike Money, Scott Holcomb, Sam Thumma, Don Richardson, and Dick Gray.

Sing with the Chancel Choir

Music during the summer includes soloists and special music. On the first Sunday of the month, anyone who would like to join the Chancel Choir is invited to sing with the group. Rehearsal is a half hour to an hour before the 9:30 am service.

If you are interested in singing with the choir this summer, or in joining the choir in the fall, please contact our Music and Arts Director, Ashley Snavley Stawser. Rehearsals begin Wednesday, September 5.

Children and Youth Music Programs at PVUMC

There is also an afterschool music program for children, which meets Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm. This group is open to all children first grade through 6th grade and begins meeting Wednesday, August 22. There is a Journeys small group at pvumc which meets at the same time in the church library, G2. Contact Rayme Ellett for more information.

The PVUMC youth choir and youth bells begin their rehearsals on Sunday, August 26 with bells rehearsing in the morning, 10:45-11:15 am, and youth choir meeting afternoons at 4 pm, usually before youth group events and gatherings. On August 26, the youth choir begins at 3:30 pm to hear about plans for the year, get schedules and learn about expectations as part of the youth choir. All students in 6th-12th grade are welcome to join the youth choir. Check pvumc.org/calendar for rehearsal times and email the Music and Arts director for performance dates and other information.
