Paradise Valley United Methodist Church is excited to announce a proactive opportunity for the community to come together at a Senior Health Fair on Saturday, September 22, 9 am-12 noon in the Fellowship Center.

Part of PVUMC’s mission is to transform lives and create community. This event does both by providing a place for aging seniors and their caregivers to find valuable information to extend the quality of their lives and find resources to support them at this later stage of life. There is no cost to attend the fair and many of the resources are free.

The fair is hosted by the church’s Caring Ministries Team, which offers prayer, grief support, a Best Friends in Faith or BFF program to help shut-ins, medical equipment loans, a weekly flower ministry, hospital visits, pastoral support and more to church members and friends. The fair is in line with the team’s mission statement: “God calls us to lovingly care for the physical and spiritual needs of others.”

The church also partners with Duet, a nonprofit agency who provides needed services for aging adults, including transportation to medical appointments, as well as support for caregivers. Confirmed vendors include:

September is Healthy Aging® Month — an annual health observance designed to focus national attention on the positive aspects of growing older. Did you know that by the year 2020, more than 1 in 4 people in Arizona will be over age 60 (US Census Bureau)? This is a critical time for us to come together as a community to provide education and information to Arizona’s aging population.

The Senior Health Fair at PVUMC will include information about medical services, fitness & health, technology, legal, community services, housing/respite care, financial/banking and much more. If you or anyone you know is in a position of transition (no matter what age), please join us!
