After 20 years of ministry at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, Rev. Andrea Andress announced her intention to retire on June 30, 2018. She announced her retirement to the PSPRC (Pastor Staff Parish Relations Committee) in March 2018. Pam Selthun, marketing and communications director at the church, interviewed Rev. Andress and shared an article about her time at PVUMC in the June/July 2018 Desert Scroll newsletter.
Pastor Andrea is the Deacon and Director of Spiritual Formation and Discipleship. She has continued as one of the church’s associate pastors on a part-time basis through October 2018, which is Pastor Appreciation Month in the United Methodist Church. Click here for five ways to show your appreciation.
The church will have an opportunity to celebrate with her and present her with a love offering at an afternoon retirement party hosted by PSPRC. Please join her in a celebration of her ministry from 3-5 pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018. She preaches at all three services that day. Donate your love gift by placing an envelope in the offering plate or by visiting GIVE NOW, choosing “Other” and writing “Love Gift for Rev. Andrea Andress” in the comments section.
“When I first arrived [at PVUMC], my son Nathan was entering 7th Grade and I told the committee I would plan on being here at least until he graduated High School,” Pastor Andrea wrote. She stayed much longer because “I found in Paradise Valley a place I could belong.”
She says, “It has been a pleasure to know and interact with so many families and people of all ages. Watching generations grow has been so rewarding to me.”
