Grace for the Journey

For the last 20 years, my journey has been to walk with the congregation of Paradise Valley United Methodist Church. This Sunday, October 28, 2018, comes the time for me to say goodbye as one of your pastors.

Pulling together thoughts that encompass the past years has been an amazing project. Having watched families grow, being part of daily and significant events with people has been a pleasure and a challenge.

A quote from Eckhart Tolle expresses well my thoughts, “Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.” Life is here and now; we can’t change the past, predict the future or even control the present. We can participate fully with heart, mind, and body to shape what happens now. God has promised to be present with us.

We all make mistakes; wish we could have done some things differently, and wondered what might have been if we had taken another road. But to live fully the life we have is the best. The beauty and joy of now bless each of us and honors who we are. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share with you this Sunday “Grace for the Journey,” which includes some memories and hopes I have for you and for me.
