Celebrate at One of 5 Christmas Eve Services

Paradise Valley United Methodist Church and Christians around the world celebrate the season of Advent during the month of December. Throughout the month, our worship services have focused on Isaiah 9:6 and a book called, “Names for the Messiah,” by author Walter Brueggemann. This powerful book looks at Isaiah 9:6, in which the prophet gave us four royal titles – Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace — for Jesus, the Messiah. On Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24, we welcome the Christ Child, Jesus, who is also called Emmanuel (or Immanuel) or God with Us. Learn more about Jesus and feel the hope, love, peace, and joy of the season at one of SIX worship experiences.

One Modern Service (Plus One on December 23)

At 6 pm, the Ignite team offers a modern Christmas Eve Candlelight service in the chapel. Ignite will have an identical Christmas Eve service on Sunday, December 23, at 6 pm in the chapel. Worship is led by a worship team and band and features contemporary Christmas carols.

Special Family Afternoon Service

At 3 pm in the sanctuary, we offer a Family Service, which includes a Blessing of the Babies. Bring your nativity set’s baby Jesus for a special blessing. We’ll also bless your own babies if you so desire. Music includes soloists, carols, and piano pieces by Dr. Andria Fennig and Dr. Ashley Strawser, the Dueling Divas, who have produced Noel, a Christmas CD of well-loved and recognized Christmas songs, arranged for piano/four hands. Listen to selections and buy online at CDBaby.

Three Traditional Candlelight Services in the Sanctuary

Traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve services are at 5, 7 and 9 pm. All are in the sanctuary.

At the 5 and 7 pm services, children’s, youth and adult vocal and handbell choirs perform, accompanied by strings, organ, piano, and other instruments. The children sing at 5 pm and the youth sing and ring (handbells) at 7 pm.

The 9 pm service features soloists and Christmas carols, as well as communion and candlelight. Childcare is available at all services except 9 pm.

Christmas Concerts

Throughout the month of December, we offer several ways to experience Christmas through our music ministry.

On Saturday, December 1, at 7 pm in the Sanctuary, we present Noel: A four hands piano concert featuring our music leaders. Dr. Andria Fennig and Dr. Ashley Strawser are the Dueling Divas who will perform selections from their new Christmas CD, Noel. The CD is available for purchase at the concert. Each CD costs $20. They make great Christmas gifts AND they benefit our PVUMC Piano Fund. You may also purchase the album and songs online at CDBaby.

On Sunday, December 2, our littlest singers, the Mini-Singers, perform a Christmas concert at 11:15 am in the sanctuary.

On Sunday, December 9, at 6 pm, we invite you to our PVUMC Christmas Concert, where all of our musical ensembles and choirs perform. This is part of our Community Concert Series 2018-2019. Click here to read more and register.

Christmas Wonderland

On Friday, December 14 at 6 pm, families with children are invited to Christmas Wonderland in the Fellowship Center, featuring The Star Movie.

All of these are FREE events, so please join us, and invite a friend!
