Change the World Day: Be God’s Love in Action
All of us want the world to be better, to be different. Most of us have some opinion on what is needed for this to happen. Hopefully, you exercised your opinions on how to change our country by voting this week. Now, at PVUMC, you have another opportunity to Change the World. Join us this Sunday on Change the World Day, when we all have the opportunity to be God’s love in action.
One of the paradoxical themes in Jesus’ ministry was the idea of serving others. We are not here for ourselves. The one who wants to be great, Jesus said, must be the one who serves others. When we help someone we take the risk of stepping aside, allowing God to move in and do important work.
So this Sunday we’re going to clean, paint, pray, garden, pack food, and more, all in Jesus’ name. Not only is this a tangible help to someone but we’re living out a vital spiritual lesson of what it means to be disciples. We give God the opportunity to work within us, reminding us how much we receive when we allow God to lead and ourselves to follow. Maybe there is someone you want to invite someone to join us, to discover the joy we share together in changing this corner of God’s world? Even if you have not signed up for a project this Sunday, come have breakfast with us at the Fellowship Center at 8 am, come worship during our short ONE service of blessing at 9 am in the sanctuary, pray with us and help us bless others. Together we make a difference.

“We invite you to join us on a shared journey of life and faith, open to all, regardless of age, ability, economics, color, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, politics, theology or anything else that might separate us from each other. Whoever you are and wherever you may be on your spiritual journey, you’re invited to walk with Christ in community with all of God’s children, and embrace the endless possibilities of God’s unconditional love.”
P.S. You can read more about Change the World Day at PVUMC. In lieu of our regular worship services, we are taking church out of the building and into the community, engaging in service projects with a dozen nonprofit organizations, packing Thanksgiving meal boxes on campus and much more. We hope you’ll join us for breakfast (thanks to one of our nonprofit partners, UMOM) at 8 am on the Fellowship Center patio, come to the sanctuary at 9 am for a short service of blessing, then go serve with others. If you’d like to sponsor a Thanksgiving box, you can do that online at GIVE NOW, or on Sunday morning after worship. Suggested donation is $20. Read more about the Thanksgiving Food Boxes for UMOM and thank you for being God’s love in action!
