“The Search for Happiness” is a three-week worship series designed to help you face 2019 with hope. After a hectic holiday season, it’s easy to feel burned out or disappointed. Even those who feel like they have everything may feel like they’re missing something.

Too many of us try to find happiness through material possessions, a new job or even a significant other. In the end, though, we still feel like we need more. January’s worship series, “The Search for Happiness,” explores how focusing on our spiritual life and strengthening our relationship with Jesus fills that void and brings everlasting joy and contentment.

Here’s an outline of the series, beginning January 6, 2019, and ending January 20, 2019:

Week One: The Search for True Contentment

In a culture where so many people are focused on what they don’t have, God calls us to turn away from the temptation to find happiness in earthly treasures like power and wealth and instead put our trust in Jesus. Let Jesus guide you to true happiness by loving God and others, and learning how to be a true disciple.

Week Two: The Search for Everlasting Joy

Though we might confuse joy with temporary, conditional hap¬≠piness, the Bible shows us many examples of men and women who found joy in the midst of truly terrible circumstances. How can we find that sort of joy that persists, even in hardship? By being God’s love in action.

Week Three: The Search for Meaningful Connection

Despite being surrounded by people in our daily lives — on busy freeways, in bustling cities, and even in our newsfeeds with our Facebook friends, we may feel a lack of meaningful connection with others. The Bible shows us that some of the earliest mandates to God’s people centered around intentional Christian community. When we are intentional and authentic, we’re able to create meaningful connections in community with others.
