The PVUMC Book Group meets on the first non-holiday Monday of the month for a book discussion of a new title. Meetings are held in the church library (G2), 12:15-1:15 pm. Come a little earlier to chat.

The group decides what to read, usually setting their schedule of books several months in advance. This year, they welcome an author on January 7 and have an impressive line-up of books through April. Others will be added as the group decides what they’ll read next.

Here is the 2019 schedule through August 2019:

2019 Books

January 7 Soul Survivor by Mary Ross Smith — Guide: Janis Steiner with Author Mary Ross Smith

February 4 The Tattooist of Auschwitz: A Novel by Heather Morris — Guide: Peggy Howard

March 4 Sisters in Law: How Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg Went to the Supreme Court and Changed the World by Linda R. Hirshman —
Guide: Bonnie Belza

April 1 Born a Crime by Trevor Noah — Guide: Jean Updike

May 6 The Library by Susan Orlean — Guide: Cheryn Wall

June 3 Panchinko by Min Jin Lee

July 1 Mr. Churchill’s Secretary by Susan MacNeil

August 5 The Story Teller’s Secret by Sejal Badani — Guide: Jean Updike

The group needs guides for the two book selections in June and July. If you have an interest in leading, email Peggy Howard or Debbie Doran.

If you have a book to suggest and would like to lead a discussion in an upcoming month in 2019, let the group know when you attend. You do not have to be a member of PVUMC or a member of any church to join this group. All book lovers are welcome!
