See Grand Canyon University’s elite choral ensemble, Critical Mass, perform pieces like Let Everything that Hath Breath and Forever in His Care on Sunday, February 3 at 8 am (chapel) and 9:30 (sanctuary) as part of PVUMC’s traditional worship services. This group of 12 young singers will be directed by Dr. Juan Hernandez. The Paradise Valley United Methodist Church Youth Choir and Bells will also bless us with music at 9:30 am worship.

Critical Mass returns to perform a free concert at PVUMC on Friday, February 15 at 7 pm. This concert is a Masterworks concert by the Chorale, a group of about 30-35 singers including Critical Mass, Grand Canyon Chorale and student soloists. The Songs of Faith concert will feature sacred music, including:

Let Everything That Has Breath by Jeffrey Ames. Gospel style
His Name Be Glorified arr. Carol Cymbala
Gospel style
Arise, My Soul, Arise by Dan Forrest
Hymn arrangement
Forever In His Care arr. David Maddux
Vocal jazz style

An article from Grand Canyon University about the concert reported that alongside Hernandez and the choir, GCU Music Director Mark Fearey will return on piano for the set, and musical guest Michael Downey will play the trumpet to accompany several songs.

Some of many songs on the concert repertoire will be “The Last Words of David,” “Go Down Moses,” “Forever in His Care” and “God is Working.”

“Both of the venues where we will be performing are just beautiful churches that are really built specifically to host really good music,” Hernandez said of PVUMC and First United Methodist Church, where the choir performs on Thursday night.
