Winners of the 2018 Southwest Vocal Competition Coloratura Nina Garguilo, Soprano Katherine Thilakaratne and Mezzo-soprano Holly Sheppard will unite their voices in a concert of the most popular and beloved Operatic Arias, Duets and Trios, including the enchanting Duets from “Lakme “ and “ Norma” to Broadway favorite “I Could Have Danced All Night” and the Golden Age Operetta aria “Italian Street Song.”
Accompanied by Maestro John Massaro of Phoenix Opera and hosted by Metropolitan Opera Mezzo Gail Dubinbaum, the Songbirds Concert will be held at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253, on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 pm in the church sanctuary.
The three opera singers are raising funds to attend International Opera summer programs, to further their performance experience and develop their careers. Donations to help them get there are appreciated, but there are no tickets needed and no admission fee. Everyone is welcome to come to this program and discover the amazing talent Arizona has to offer.
Here’s a sneak peek of two of the Songbirds, Holly and Nina, who has performed at the church before and often helps lead music at the church:
