Children are important at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, and we offer year-round ministry programs for them. Our regular Sunday School program at 9:30 am ends for the school year on Sunday, May 19, 2019, followed by a Family Sunday on May 26 (Memorial Day weekend).
We also have a Mother’s Day Music Celebration planned for May 12, featuring all our music groups from children to adults. The Mini-Singers, led by Shari Paris, perform at the Ignite Modern Worship service on Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Summer Sundays begin June 2-August 11, 2019. In the summer months, preschoolers go directly to their classes, but the elementary students begin in worship with a Children’s Moment early in the 9:30 am service, then the children are invited to leave the sanctuary with their teachers to participate in the camp program. Children are escorted back at the end of the service, so you start and end in worship, as a family.
On Communion Sundays, always the first Sunday of the month, children return to worship a little earlier to partake communion with their families. If you have preschoolers (age 3 and potty-trained through age 4 and Kinder), take them directly to their classroom. Check the signs on campus for rooms.
Our childcare center is open every Sunday for all our worship services. Please note that we will not offer the 8 am service during June, July, and August.
If you are interested in volunteering to assist or lead one or more weeks this summer, please contact Brenda Smith, our deacon and director of family ministries.
If you attend the 11 am contemporary Ignite worship service in the chapel, we offer a PreK/K Godly Play class. Email Pastor Christopher Wurpts for more information.
Family Sundays: Holiday Weekends
Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends are traditionally Family Sundays, a time for families to worship together in lieu of classes.
We invite you to worship with your children on Family Sundays, May 26, July 7, and September 1, 2019.
Praise Paks will be provided. As part of the family of God, all children are invited to receive communion.
A Preschool class is sometimes offered on these Sundays, but the older children will remain in worship.
