
Building a sustainable church, like building a sustainable community, requires the commitment and cooperation of its members. But fueling that commitment and empowering members will require plentiful opportunities for learning, involvement and enrichment through Earth Care events and initiatives.

Events
Earth Day: Fun activities for all ages, speakers, and informational booths are planned in celebration of Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, 9:30 – 11:30 am, PVUMC campus. Details forthcoming.
Upcoming speaker topics are expected to include:
- Embracing God’s mandate to be stewards of His creation
- Arizona’s water crisis and options for dealing with it
- International impact of environmental degradation on the poor
- The complicated, confusing rules for recycling in the Valley of the Sun
- Listening to God through nature
Speakers present to an in-person audience with live streaming and recorded video available. Additional guests, dates, times and places will be posted on this page.
Continuing education
Earth Care educational opportunities include classes for all ages:
- A multi-week series for young people on environmental issues and potential responses.
- Several short-term adult classes, in person and online.
- Environmental topics and hands-on activities for children directed by PVUMC’s Director of Children and Family Ministries.
Volunteer opportunities
If you’re ready to get involved in planning and implementing Earth Care, let us know the areas that interest you. Note these are initial ideas. Other ideas will likely emerge as people get involved.
Support Earth Care
- Purchase a reusable metal water bottle or sustainable grocery bag from PVUMC’s Serendipities gift shop. Proceeds will help refresh the PVUMC Biblical Garden with new plants and placards of the scriptures that name the plants.
- Visit the PVUMC giving page to give online; designate Earth Care in the memo field.
- Donate with a check to PVUMC. Write “Earth Care” on the memo line.
